Steve Tawia

Steve Tawia is an all-round consultant in finance, technology and social entrepreneurship with more than 16 years of experience. He recently started Asimé Partners, an SME-focused consulting and advisory firm in Accra, Ghana. He is also an avid technologist with interests in angel investing, start-up coaching and speaking engagements. Until relocating to Ghana in December 2014, he was Senior Risk Manager at the European Investment Fund (EIB Group) in Luxembourg. Over five years he was in charge of providing investment and risk assessments for private equity and venture capital funds (>460 funds, ca. €9 billion AuM) and was also judge/fellow at the EIB’s Social Innovation Tournament.

As a former consultant in strategy, operations and technology in London and Paris, he used the skills gained as equity and fixed income derivatives sales-trader/broker in Switzerland. His core competences cover capital markets, corporate finance, quantitative financial modelling, microfinance, Islamic finance, social entrepreneurship and intellectual property.

He is a PRINCE 2 Professional (project management), CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst®, 2010) charter-holder, a Certified Islamic Finance Executive (CIFE, 2012) and a Toastmasters Competent Communicator (CC) and Competent Leader (CL) awardee. He is also co-author of “Invest in Africa: A framework for Rational Investment in Sub – Saharan Africa”.

Mr. Tawia holds an Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship (EPSE 2015) form Stanford GSB, a MSc. in Finance from London Business School (2009) and MSc. in International Management (Finance major) from French Grande Ecole AUDENCIA Nantes – Business School (2001).
