John Raabo Nielsen
John Raabo Nielsen, Denmark, has diverse corporate experience spanning from work with start-ups to competitive businesses that he has grown through effective leadership. His career has taught him all about the ups and downs of start-ups: starting from scratch, rapid growth and skyrocketing valuation, and even the decline of a successful business. With this all-around expertise, John is passionate about mentoring entrepreneurs, especially in high-impact businesses.
John says that he “has decided to dedicate himself to the challenge of doing business to make a positive impact on social and environmental issues.” He currently directs a small firm called The Black Circus. They are “motivated by generating profit and spending profit in a way that has a positive impact on employees, customers, society and environment.” As a Global Mentor in the African Entrepreneurship Award, this is precisely the expertise that John brings to African entrepreneurs.
In addition to The Black Circus, John recently co-founded Not For Sale Tea, a company that delivers a great product with positive social impact. For 12 years, John worked in leadership positions with Coloplast, transforming the company into one of the world’s best performing medical device companies. The Denmark native was educated at Oxford Brookes University, where he earned an MBA. He also studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by work at Stanford University’s Executive Innovation Program.
