Jacob Ashong, Ghanaian entrepreneur and change maker, is passionate about learning and teaching astronomy and providing access to education. He devotes his career to both, spreading his knowledge and wisdom to help improve lives in Africa.

Jacob is the Director of the Ghana Planetarium Science Centre and founder of the Astronomical Society of Ghana.

Since 1999, Jacob and his wife, Jane, have been running a distance learning resource center for the University of Leicester, in addition to other activities, such as outreach projects providing a travelling inflatable dome and visits to schools.

In 2006, Jacob and Jane founded Girls School Africa, an initiative that helps pay Secondary School fees for girls who can’t afford it.

Jacob has a PhD in Malaria medication and a Masters degree in Human Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
