Chigedze Chinyepi is the founder and owner of Business Support Agency and Tjina Nkado Crafts in Botswana. She has more than 2 decades of experience working in organizations in the private sector and civil society in Southern Africa, a decade of which was spent in building capacity for entrepreneurs in trade and competitiveness, economic empowerment for women, program development, business proposals and project management.
Chigedze has worked with diverse stakeholders, including government, parastatal bodies and communities in developing strategies that incorporate rural development and poverty reduction programs. She has conducted several training workshops on Human Resource Management, Citizen Economic Empowerment and Developing Export Strategies to Access Regional Markets and Cross Border Traders for products and services produced in the region.
In Botswana, and the larger SADC region, Chigedze has been involved in lobbying and advocating for gender equality. She presented a report on the Convention of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and Girls (CEDAW) to the United Nations CEDAW Committee in Geneva.
Throughout her career, Chigedze has mentored both start-ups and existing businesses. She is the chairperson of the Global Environmental Facility, the UNDP – Small Grant Program in Botswana – Technical Advisory Group, chairperson of the African Women Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP), a member of Business Botswana, and the BOCONGO Gender and Development Sector.
