Hoon Meng Ong

Hoon Meng Ong, Singapore, has a track record of building successful sales and marketing organizations to serve enterprises in both fast growing as well as matured economies across Asia Pacific, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

In a 32-year career with IBM, Hoon Meng, held several senior leadership positions with IBM. These include Senior Advisor in Greater China, General Manager of General Business and Geographical Expansion of Growth Markets, General Manager of Market Development, Japan, General Manager ASEAN; and Vice President of Small and Medium Business, Asia Pacific. Hoon Meng retired from IBM in 2014.

He currently serves as the Vice Chair of Caritas Agape Village and sits on the IT committee of the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre in Singapore. He has also been appointed as a senior advisor to the management consulting firm Litmus Group Singapore.

From 2002, he was a member of IBM’s senior leadership team comprising 300 personally selected global executives to drive the growth and transformation of IBM. From July 2013 through June 2014, Hoon Meng was appointed as the Senior Advisor to the General Manager of the Greater China Group (GCG) responsible for overall strategy development and execution, including talent and leadership development. He helped build GCG’s ability to reach new clients using IBM’s software technologies and drove Services growth in Financial Services, Industrial and Retail industries.

From 2010 to 2013, Hoon Meng was responsible for the General Business and Geographical Expansion division in IBM’s Growth Markets Unit. Under his leadership, this division delivered in excess of US$10B revenue per year and recorded strong growth. He built the sales organizations especially in emerging second and third tier cities in several high growth economies such as China, India, Africa, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe.

Hoon Meng’s career with IBM includes leadership experience throughout Asia where his experience covered marketing and global strategies. Hoon Meng holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from National University of Singapore.
