She is the Coordinator of the African Biomedical Engineering Consortium which aims to educate students and staff on Biomedical engineering using summer schools and innovation competitions across Africa. One of Dr. Madete’s specialties is biomechanics and looking at the body as a machine, a topic she became immersed in when she worked as a research associate following graduation. Since then she has trained students, teachers, lecturers at Cardiff University, Egerton University (Kenya), Kenyatta University (Kenya), and Addis Ababa Institute of Technology. She has been a mentor to numerous students in Engineering for the last 10 years and continues to mentor at the Chandaria Business and Incubation Center.
Dr. Madete received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Medical Engineering and her PhD in in Biomechanics, motion capture, imaging studies and patient data collection.
